President Ackerman called the scholarship “Student Night” meeting to order following the meal provided by Lehigh University.
There was no official business conducted.
Charles
Longo, Honor and Awards chairman, introduced the scholarship students.
Jill Gliem, a Lehigh Chemical Engineering major, detailed the use of high speed photography in the research of water droplets. The camera uses a PCI card to input images directly into a computer at a speed of two-thousand frames per second.
Mathew Metzger, a Lafayette Chemical Engineering major, reviewed the “Flexible Process Control Kits for the Classroom” that they developed. The kit uses various Lego parts, measuring and control devices in conjunction with Labview software to provide the student with a hands on experience of PID control.
Professor Kemal Tuzla and Paul Bader gave us a tour of the Chemical Engineering department’s chemical processing lab. The lab is equipped with numerous control systems for the student to learn PID control and data collection techniques.
Respectfully, Dick Rumble, Secretary
